Pharmacy to chiropractic...
Oddly enough, many patients do not realize I began my career in health care in the pharmacy field. After attending pharmacy school at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and working locally my life was forever transformed when a personal friend of mine referred me to a chiropractor for asthma related breathing problems and left shoulder pain. Not knowing what to expect, you can imagine my surprise when simple, gentle chiropractic adjustments not only helped, but corrected my health problems! This experience changed my life in such a dramatic fashion, I eventually sold everything thing I had in an effort to attend chiropractic school to share this miracle with other suffering individuals.
I always knew in my heart, that I wanted to be in a profession that could help people achieve maximum health and vitality. Working in the medical world previously, I understood that the path I had chosen would be difficult, because many people do not know what chiropractic care truly is. Often I find that people think it is only for the treatment of pain however, I have been blessed with the opportunity and ability to share the true chiropractic story with others on a daily basis. The biggest burden on my heart is to educate our community about the incredible health benefits seen by families and individuals that are under lifetime chiropractic care. I look forward to sharing my story with you in person and guiding you to "the road" to health.

From Patient to Practitioner...
I was the sickest 23 year old I knew! I went to a chiropractor for upper neck and back pain but my health and life was changed forever! I chose chiropractic because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired! After my very first adjustment, I knew my health and my life could be different if I wanted it to be. Afterwards, I could not stop giggling and I felt great and so relaxed. I never wanted to feel terrible again and therefore, I chose to continue with care and correct my spine and nervous system. Almost immediately, the neck and upper back pain was gone and I had so much energy. The true miracle came after a few months of care when my chronic bronchitis and breathing problems went away. My life was forever changed because my chiropractor told me how to take care of my health and then keep it that way. Chiropractic had such a huge impact on me that I decided to dedicate my life to teaching others how to live disease free and healthy!
Dr. Erika Meister
From pre-med to chiropractic...
Dr. Erika E. Meister, a native of Wheaton, IL, received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Illinois Wesleyan University. Originally pre-med, Dr. Meister chose a career in Chiropractic. She says, “Having two parents that were chiropractors and growing up in the profession, I took for granted how healthy Chiropractic patients are. It wasn't until I saw the medical side that I knew more chiropractors were needed.” Seeing first-hand how crucial the chiropractic adjustment is to one’s structure, function, and longevity; she was led to become a doctor of chiropractic versus a doctor of medicine. After receiving her D.C. degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida, Dr. Meister briefly worked in a small private practice in Ormond Beach, FL before joining the team at Hood Chiropractic in 2007.
